There is not much you can after an accident, once you are there, it is done man. It is not like you can get insured after the fact. While you’re sitting there, behind the wheel, the policy officer filling up his report, the person you hit steaming hot mad about what had happened: right then, that is not the time to call up your broker, or to log onto the web to get an upgrade in auto insurance coverage. In fact, the week before that would’ve happened, that wouldn’t be the time even. Upgrades or changes in policy usually take about a month. So this is something to think about. Not timing your accidents, but upgrading your policy. And what we mean by timing your accidents, is that you up your coverage during the rainy season, and downgrade your coverage during the dry season. That’s an attempt to time your accidents.
