Project #l – Some Fun Loving Leaf Art
As any homeowner can attest, fallen leaves are abundant in the autumn of the year, and this great project can take what to many is a nuisance and transform it into a beautiful work of art. In order to create some great leaf art, you will need the following supplies:
- Glue
- Food coloring or liquid tempura paint
- A paintbrush
- Two sheets of waxed paper, cut to equal sizes
- A supply of colorful and interesting leaves
- Some glitter
- String
- A hole punch
- Pine needles or flowers
Begin your project by mixing together the glue and the food coloring or paint. Use the paintbrush to paint this mixture on to one sheet of the waxed paper, making sure the paper is well coated. After the waxed paper has been coated, stick those colorful leaves on the paper, along with pine needles, fall flowers or other suitable materials. Sprinkle the leaves with some glitter if you like and then paint your glue onto the other sheet of wax paper. To complete the project, simply press the two sheets together, then punch a hole near the top and hang in a suitable location.
Project #2 – The Perfect Twig Frame
Everyone loves family photographs, and the right frame can provide a great finishing touch to any family keepsake. Making a twig frame is a great project for children of all ages, and a fun project for the entire family.
The supplies for the twig frame are simple, consisting of only:
- A pair of scissors
- Construction paper
- Ribbon
- Cardboard
- White glue
- An assortment of dry twigs
The first step is to measure the photograph, and then to cut the cardboard and construction paper into rectangles approximately two inches longer and wider than the photo to be framed. After the cardboard and paper has been cut, the construction paper can be glued to the cardboard to start the frame.
The next step is to break the twigs into lengths that are a little bit longer than the cardboard, and an inch or two longer than the width of the photograph. The twigs can then be glued onto the edges of the cardboard, crossing at the corners. The photograph can then be glued to the center of the frame. Once the glue has dried, a ribbon can be tied to each end of the top twig and used to hang the frame. Chances are your child will be so proud of this frame that he or she will want to display it prominently.
For Autumn, you should consider giving an Autumn Gift Basket.
