His year would be the first year that I would not be able to spend father’s day at home. This was my first year at university and the first time daddy’s girl would not be able to make it home. Without saying a word about this him-self, I knew my father was not very happy about this first time experience. So I was faced with an extra challenge this year. Not only did I have to find a gift for my dad, but I had to find something really special and I would have to try and find a way to make this day extra special for him. This seemed like a herculean task, especially since I have never been brilliant when it came to shopping for gifts for dad. Then my friend suggested that I take one of my old t-shirts, from when I was still a wee one and finger paint it with my own personalised message. This was a great idea and I knew it would be something different and special. So finally I sent the special package home just in time for father’s day and rounded it off by sending him a Hindi SMS.

What makes Reader’s Digest truly amazing is that they have an edition specifically for the visually-impaired as there is a Braille edition. There are sections in Reader’s Digest that have been added over the years. The most popular being the long-running “Word Power “series set to increase the vocabulary of the reader. The second most popular section in the magazine is the jokes or humor section. More particularly there are life jokes which are being contributed by the readers themselves. Life jokes are jokes written by the readers who find comical ways of explaining their daily encounters. There are a lot of contributors to this section as there are really jokes to find in life’s daily grind.
